The FELCRA Development along Jalan Semarak is a mixed development which consist of 1 block of 35-storey office tower, 1 block of 43-storey serviced apartment (namely Semarak Residence), 7-storey of elevated car park, 1-storey of facility floor, 4-storey of basement car park along with 6-storey of commercial block. The mixed development along Jalan Semarak is under the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (FELCRA), a corporate organization under the Ministry of Finance, Malaysia. EDP Consulting Group Sdn. Bhd. is involved in providing consulting engineering for an intricate list of structural services which includes the elevated car park, serviced apartment commercial block and office tower.
Technical Description
The elevated car park and commercial block structure were designed using reinforced concrete conventional beam and slab system while the office tower was designed using post-tensioned flat slab system. Part of the requirement for the office tower within the mixed development was to have all columns located along the perimeter of the tower in order to provide the tenants with a spacious and “columnless” office floor. This particular arrangement will contribute towards an optimized usage of the floor area within the office tower. One of the highlights for the structural design of the tower is, the raker column design. The office tower columns are also designed using high strength concrete, Grade 60. Steel structures are used for glass canopy structures and the link bridge. The glass canopy is a cantilever structure with a tie-back of 8.8m. The link bridge is made up of concrete-steel composite system which spans over an approximate length of 18m. The link bridge consists of 200mm thick reinforced concrete slab and supported by 4 numbers of universal main beam.
