EDP Humble Beginnings
EDP Consulting Group Sdn. Bhd. embarks on a journey to provide engineering consulting services under the company name of EDP Consulting Group in 1995 and in 1998, the company name was corporatized and rebranded to EDP Consulting Group Sdn. Bhd. EDP began from the vision of three dedicated and passionate engineer individuals, Ir. Dr. Che Arrifin, Datuk Ir. Teoh Han Eng and Ir. Bruce Chan Siew Keat to build a practice that would offer knowledge base solutions while also being recognised as adopting globally recognised practices and with the intention to take engineering consulting services to the next level within Malaysia and globally.
EDP humbly began on a single level of a three-storey commercial at Subang Jaya’s Business Hub Centre with only six number of staff. In a short span of time, the company grew to more than 20 staffs. Over the years, the Company continue on to expand, thanks to new clients as well as repeated clients.
Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad or PNSB which is part of a state government funded company was EDP’s first client. EDP was to provide consultancy services for 32 Units of 4 storeys shop lots, located at Salak Tinggi, Sepang, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia. This development was situated at one of the fast-growing districts at that time as it is within the vicinity of Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Toshiba Plant System and Services Cooperation (TPSC) and Sumitomo JV was a joint venture of two reputable companies in Japan was EDP’s first international client. EDP was to provide Structural, Civil Infrastructure, Mechanical and Electrical works consultancy services for the construction of a 350 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant at Prai, Penang Island, Malaysia. EDP designed the plant structure, administration building, external infrastructures, electrical and mechanical utilities within the plant boundary.
In March 2011, EDP received its ISO 9001:2008 certification which has been recently upgraded to ISO 9001:2015. EDP has maintained its ISO certification till to date and under the current practice, it has adopted a risk base approach in its QMS system.
Over the years EDP has been expanding and all the while ensuring the human resource skills continue to keep in pace with ever increasing digitized world. EDP is proud to have grown from a company of passion driven talented young engineers into an organization staffed with capable experienced engineers and continue to train a cadre of young engineers while instilling EDP’s everlasting passion and charisma towards engineering within them.
