Affin Bank & HSBC Headquarters

HSBC Bank Headquarters and Affin Bank Headquarters are both located at south east side of the 70-acres Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) development. Both office tower will be linked to a public plaza that is connected to the towering landmark of TRX, The Exchange 106 and MRT station via pedestrian link ways. Affin Bank comprises of a 43-storey of Office Tower with a 3 level of basement car park while HSBC Bank comprises of a 38-storey of Office Tower with a 3 level of basement car park.

Technical Description

EDP Consulting Group Sdn. Bhd. is involved in providing consulting engineering services for Civil infrastructure and Geotechnical services for both HBSC and Affin Bank. The scope of works involved is earthworks and rock excavation with controlled blasting within the vicinity of existing structures, basement retaining structure and grouting works in Limestone Formation. As the construction on these plots are interfacing with the ongoing master developer TRX’s infrastructure works, combination of open cut and earth retaining structure for basement excavation works was adopted. 1300mm diameter Secant Pile Wall is constructed at the basement boundary which is adjacent to Jalan Tun Razak and SMART office where space for open cut construction is not available. The Secant Pile Wall is designed without temporary support for basement excavation works up to 12m below existing ground level. For Affin Bank Plot, part of the development is located inside MRT second reserve zone. Hence, impact assessment analysis of the basement excavation works towards MRT tunnel was carried out and submitted to MRTC for approval prior to commencement of construction. While for HSBC Bank Head Office, EDP was employed as the Independent Design Checker for the building’s foundation.

• 1300m diameter free standing Secant Pile for 3 levels of basement excavation up to 12m below existing ground level.
