Technical Description
EDP Consulting Group Sdn. Bhd. was involved in providing consulting engineering for Civil Infrastructure, Structural and Geotechnical services for the Phase 1 mall development. The main structures were predominantly designed using reinforced concrete. Steel structures were used for the feature roofs which were architecturally designed to imitate the form of leaves, with spans over 40m. The foundation system of the building structure is supported mainly by bored pile foundation, varying from 600mm to 1500mm diameter. The frame of the building structure is mainly of shallow post-tensioned flat slab with drop panels system for the car park zones and conventional beam-slab system with cast in-situ reinforced concrete beams, slabs and columns for the retail floors. Post tensioned systems were also adopted in some areas of the retail area to cater for long spans and cantilevers. Some areas of the floor are cantilevered up to approximately 9m to create column free spaces with the intention to improve the user’s experience and the mall’s aesthetic appearance.
