Parcel F, Putrajaya is a large-scale public sector project spanning over an area of 33.47-acres consisting of 10 office blocks, catering to various government agencies and requirements along with a common 4-storey podium block which houses the carpark bays and common facilities. Parcel F consist of a built-up area of 4.8 million ft². Architecturally the building is outfitted with an inspiration from a form of a local Malaysian brocade. This is a Turnkey Project awarded to Sunway Construction Sdn. Bhd. (SCSB) by the Project Developer, Putrajaya Bina Sdn. Bhd. on September 2015 with a contract period of 34 months. EDP Consulting Group Sdn. Bhd. was appointed by Sunway Construction Sdn. Bhd. (SCSB) to be the main Civil Infrastructure and Structural consultant for Parcel F.
Technical Description
EDP’s scope covers the full Civil Infrastructure and Structural scope which includes planning, detail design, construction supervision and local authority submission of the entire infrastructure works, common parking complex, facility block and seven number of tower blocks.
The building foundations are mainly supported by bored pile foundation, varying from 600mm to 1050mm diameter in size. The framing of the building structures are mainly shallow post-tensioned flat-slab with drop panel system for both the podium and tower blocks, with reinforced concrete columns along with lift cores. Conventional beam-slab system with cast in-situ reinforced concrete beams and slabs replacing the post tension system for specific structural elements where the spans are short or irregular in shape. Steel structural design were adopted to form the Crown of the Office Tower, Decking for the BMU, Pedestrian bridge, Glass roofs, canopies and facades.
For infrastructure works, EDP was involved in the general earthworks and its ancillary erosion and silt control plan in accordance to MASMA’s guidelines. Besides earthworks and its ancillary erosion and silt control plan, EDP was also involved in the design of Road & Drainage, Sewerage reticulation and water reticulation which were design based on the corresponding authority requirements.
Project Highlights, Achievement and Recognition:
- Parcel F is the first government project completed with Building Information Modelling (BIM) from design development stage to its facility management stage (LOD 500).
